Shoulder replacement surgery continues to evolve, and a major new advancement has now arrived in Victoria.

The initial patients are recovering well, including the first patient, Barry, who is progressing well post-operatively.

What Is Robotic Shoulder Replacement?

Robotic shoulder replacement uses advanced robotic-assisted technology to help the surgeon position implants with a high level of accuracy based on a personalised 3D surgical plan.

Before surgery, detailed imaging is used to map the patient’s anatomy and create a pre-operative plan. During the procedure, the robotic arm assists Mr Chua in carrying out that plan with greater precision.

Importantly, the robot does not perform the surgery independently. Mr Chua remains in full control throughout the operation. The robotic system is simply an advanced tool designed to improve accuracy and consistency.
